This happens a lot. And now it’s happening in Washington DC: pro-CCP attacks on peaceful protesters against Xi Jinping and his totalitarian regime (Breitbart, September 24, 2026).
A group of pro-Tibetan activists who were peacefully demonstrating against Chinese dictator Xi Jinping when he arrived in Washington, DC, on Thursday were attacked by pro-communist protesters.
Protest organizers said they expected over 2,000 Tibetans living in North America to participate, along with Uyghurs and Southern Mongolians who have been oppressed by the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kongers who lost their freedoms under China’s authoritarian laws, Taiwanese worried about PRC subversion and invasion, and Chinese pro-democracy activists….
Some of the protesters urged President Donald Trump to bring up China’s human rights violations during their meeting and press Xi for better treatment of groups like the Uyghurs and Tibetans.
Others angrily called on Xi to resign….
The confrontation with pro-Communist agitators occurred when the demonstrators were lined up along a bridge to wave flags and banners while Xi’s motorcade passed beneath them. The counter-demonstrators attempted to steal flags, smash banners, and drown out the anti-Xi protesters by yelling over them.

On September 23, Tibetan protesters said pro-China demonstrators attempted to obscure their banners and Tibetan national flags by waving Chinese flags after they unfurled a banner protesting Chinese President Xi Jinping’s arrival in Washington DC. The counter-demonstrators were also seen pushing Tibetan activists during the demonstration.
A similar confrontation was reported later that night outside the Waldorf Astoria, where Xi is staying during his Washington visit. Chinese pro-democracy activists holding a peaceful demonstration were confronted by individuals described by protesters as Chinese Communist Party supporters. The individuals, wearing hats, dark glasses and masks, allegedly attempted to disrupt the demonstration.
U.S. police versus anti-Xi protesters
Tibetan Review reports that on September 22, “a Tibetan student activist from the group Students for a Free Tibet was taken into police custody after he climbed an electric pole near the US Capitol Building and hung on it a banner and a Tibetan national flag. The banner read: ‘Dictator Xi, Your Empire Will Fall, Free Tibet.’
“The activist, 20-year-old Tenzin Namgyal, climbed the pole at around 2:30am. He was taken down and away after a squad of 10 or so police cars arrived on the scene at 10:30 am, said the Tibetan service of rfa.org.”
Ten police cars? I’m sure it was dangerous to climb the pole. After taking Tenzin Namgyal down, the officers should have just shaken his hand and let him go. The Tibetan Review doesn’t say whether the police removed the banner also.
At Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where Xi’s plane landed on September 23, a group of anti-Xi protesters was “met by a much larger crowd of pro-Beijing Chinese crowd already present on the scene to welcome Xi and his entourage. This crowd not only attacked the protesters physically but also played loud music to drown their slogans. Police intervened to pull away the protesters, telling them to protest at a location far away from the scene of Xi’s motorcade.”
Are the Washington DC police pro–Chinese Communist Party?
In the leadup to Xi’s DC visit, left-wing pro-CCP protesters have been staging demonstrations for a week, “from Austin to New York City,” to demand an end to climate and data centers. GB News reports: “Many of the groups [staging the pro-CCP protests] take funding from tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham, whose wife Jodie Evans was spotted protesting outside the UN on Tuesday with the far-left Code Pink nonprofit she co-founded.”
