The question whether we’re at a tipping point because of Taiwan encompasses many other questions that will perhaps be answered during a forthcoming discussion sponsored by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs to be held June 12, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Central Daylight Time).
The Council says, “Deepening ties between the United States and Taiwan and China’s growing assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific highlight the island’s crucial role in both global security and economic stability.
“How are Washington and Taipei navigating their relationship amid mounting pressure from Beijing, and what does it mean for US-China relations and Indo-Pacific security? As concerns grow over regional stability and the risk of military conflict, what’s at stake for tech supply chains and the global economy given Taiwan’s leading role in producing the world’s semiconductors?
“Join Rorry Daniels, Damien Ma, Kharis Templeman, and Craig Kafura as they discuss this potential geopolitical flashpoint.”
The event is a “hybrid” one, meaning that you can attend in person or watch as it’s happening on YouTube.
If you are in Chicago and want to attend in person, you need to register. The location is the Chicago Council Conference Center at 130 East Randolph Street. There is no charge.
