President Trump and the United States have lost moral authority because they’re backing Israel against Hamas and Iran, which want to obliterate Israel and would like to have nuclear weapons to help them out with this. Who better to step in and resolve things so that the uncompromising enemies of Israel can now coexist in peace with Israel than…the People’s Republic of China…?
Moral authority
This is not my view, but it is apparently the view of a certain Minnesota governor and former vice-presidential candidate. Mediaite noticed how Tim Walz, during an interview with Neera Tanden, zeroed in on what he says he has reluctantly concluded is the only way forward in the Middle East (“Tim Walz Straight Up Suggests China Has More ‘Moral Authority’ to Negotiate Peace Than the U.S.,” June 13, 2025). Walz:
I truly worry now. I’m sure there are great strategic thinkers in the Trump administration that have now said, how is this going to—you know, a tweet from the president today said, “I told them they should have done something and now here we are.” Here we are, with the Middle East back on fire in a way that has now expanded with, I don’t…
Iran has to retaliate in their mind, I’m sure. And now, who is the voice in the world to negotiate some type of agreement in this? Who holds the moral authority? Who holds the ability to do that? Because we are not seen as a neutral actor. And maybe we never were. I don’t want to tell anybody that. I think there are a lot of people who say you always lean one way in this, but I think there was at least an attempt to be somewhat of an arbitrator in this. We saw President Carter do it with Begin and Sadat. We’ve had certain wins along the way that were actually mutually beneficial both ways.
Now I ask who that is, and I mean, consistently over and over again, we’re going to have to face the reality it might be the Chinese, and that goes against everything they say they’re trying to do, in terms of the balance of power. So I would just have to say, my heart goes out for this. Ukraine continues to go on. Gaza continues to be a humanitarian disaster, and now it’s expanded even further.
This is half incoherent gibberish and half what-the-f[expletive deleted]k. Why do we need a “neutral” actor to deter and stop Iran and Hamas or any of the other thug groups or countries? A “neutral” actor is someone who fiddles while the world burns. “What’s it got to do with me? I’m just an uninterested and disinterested third party here.” Or perhaps a neutral actor is someone who thinks that the best way to stop a terrorism-sponsoring government like that of Iran is to send lots of cash to that government.
Of course, Iran itself would prefer to have a fellow “neutral” gangster state handling the “peace” negotiations to fix a conflict caused, we are supposed to believe, by a country that has no reason to be concerned to preserve its very existence, whose military just out of the blue started a war while everyone else in the region was sitting around knitting.
