This post is about China, but first it’s about Russia. In the Google-Translated words of the Russian news site 78.ru, “St. Petersburg court fined ‘fighters against illegal organ harvesting.’ These organizations were considered undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.”
The court fined Falun Dafa Information Center for issuing materials that “mentioned dubious foreign organizations.”
In their articles they talked about international communities, including Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting from the USA. In one of the sections of the site, readers were also invited to join the ranks of these organizations, the joint press service of the courts reported.
Note that many of these communities are associated with the spiritual teaching of Falun Gong, which is recognized as a sect and banned in some countries. In 2020, the Prosecutor General’s Office recognized the activities of seven foreign non-governmental organizations on Russian territory as undesirable—five from the USA and two from the UK. The prosecutor’s office considered that their activities pose a threat to the security of the country.
Assuming that the Center’s articles do in fact mention DAFOH, what we have here, in the Russian court’s evident view, is an open-and-shut case. The organization was not supposed to mention DAFOH; it did mention DAFOH. A third prerequisite of the ruling, the court’s willingness to issue fines for issuing materials that mention DAFOH, was also present.
The China connection is the fact that the Chinese Communist Party is a prolific perpetrator of the evil practice of forced organ harvesting, which typically means murdering people to get their organs. DAFOH opposes forced organ harvesting as such but has especially focused on China’s forced organ harvesting because China is where most of this harvesting occurs.
It seems to have escaped the notice or moral sensibility of the Russian court that murdering people to get their eyes or kidneys or hearts is way more “undesirable” than talking about it or referring to people who talk about it.
