“BMW is leveraging its system integration expertise to fuse cutting-edge technologies and advance local partnerships into a transformative 2.0 phase,” says “BMW Group Region China President and CEO Sean Green.”
Two point zero—that’s the phase at which all of your private data gets siphoned into the data-crunching and cyberhacking offices of a certain party-state for further cutting-edge leveraging, advancement, and transformation.
Bayerische Motoren Werke confesses about as much poor judgment and criminal submission to the Chinese Communist Party as can possibly be confessed in a boastful and chuckleheaded press release. Or blog post. Whatever it is. BMW is not alone. But as mom always said, if all the regional presidents and CEOs were jumping off a cliff, would you jump too?
Syncopated synergy

Joel Thayer, attorney and president of Digital Progress Institute, saying “Congress Has a Chance to Rid Our Networks of Huawei Once and For All” (December 16, 2024), says:
National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden reported that Chinese telecommunications companies, Huawei and ZTE, served as proxies for espionage on behalf of the Chinese government as far back as 2010. In 2012, the U.S. House Intelligence Committee released a report concluding that “Chinese intelligence services, as well as private companies and other entities, often recruit those with direct access to corporate networks to steal trade secrets and other sensitive proprietary data.”…
Huawei’s and ZTE’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party are well documented. Huawei even admitted to having an internal Party Committee apparatchik as part of its corporate structure. This problem is compounded by the fact that Huawei, in particular, is backed by state-sponsored banks to ensure it can underbid other contemporary equipment vendors, like Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung. Armed with the Chinese Communist Party’s monies and resources, they flooded our markets with equipment riddled with vulnerabilities to surveille us with impunity.
Four days ago: “Heads of FCC, Senate Intelligence Hope to Convince Europe to Ditch Huawei.” Good luck with the guys at BMW, headquartered in Munich, active in China. Super-slick Huawei-facilitated CCP access to your data is the greatest thing since sliced bread, in BMW’s carefully uninformed opinion.
